No. I certainly do not. Previously, America’s cocaine and other drugs would find their way by boat, submarine or plane to Florida and move north from there. With the crackdown on that path, the movement through Central American countries and Mexico has been the cause for the war intensification where previously it had not been as prevalent.

With Americans buying tones of pot and coke every year (more cocaine than Europeans), the violence is fueled further. Americans fail to realize the consequences of smoking that Oh so peaceful herb that is in fact leading to one of the most deadliest wars in the world at the moment. “Buy local” is usually connected to the agriculture industry; we should also be using that term for the drugs Americans buy.

Just like the food industry itself, influence is too heavy to change directly. Consumers must use the voting process in the form of spending to reduce this drug violence and funding for Mexican thugs. Is this produce local? Is this pot grown locally? Northern California is progressive in this movement as a majority of their pot is grown locally. 1. The US government must crack down on the trade of pot rather than the actual production of it in US homes and 2. the US consumer must demand that their pot is grown locally. This is not a solution for the war on drugs, just the war on drug violence and consequences for innocent Mexican families.
